Gaia Dressing Room & Inventory

Oct - Dec 2008

Project Description

Dressing up avatar is an essential task for GaiaOnline users. Users constantly go through their inventory, sometimes it consists hundreds of assets, to find the best match to express their mood for the moment. At Q4 of 2008, Gaia decides to redesign the feature in order optimize the experience, and potentially modulize the experience for other features.

At the beginning of the project, my team went through the process to brainstorm and concepting. I conducted competitor analysis to understand the market. Quickly within two weeks, my team came up numerous of concept UI. Since it was still at the stealth mode in term of our new feature, we decided to collect user feedback internally. We posted the concepts of the environment and the basic interaction in the dinning hall, where people line up to get food. We collected enough data and felt confident to make preliminary decision before we present it to the executive team.
